Yolanda Gaeta

August 10, 1949 — May 3, 2022

Yolanda will be remembered by loved ones for her creativity which translated into her cooking, crafting, problem solving, and storytelling. She enjoyed preparing meals and would love hosting holidays and family get-togethers where her stage was the kitchen. She was a talented seamstress who enjoyed crafting garments, housewares, or making alterations. When not busying her hands, Yolanda loved to read and would bury herself in books. Multiple bookshelves overflowing with books became a standard in her home. Her love for reading matured into a love for writing. Between a collection of typed pages and lined notebooks full of cursive, there is her memoir titled “Mis Memorias” a recount of her childhood and family life in Mexico.

Service to her community came through her involvement in the Church. As a Catholic, Yolanda was a Eucharistic Minister for multiple years and would take Communion to individuals unable to attend weekly services. She also supported by teaching Bible study courses, sacrament prep classes, and volunteering throughout the year for various seasonal Church activities.

One of her greatest accomplishments was creating a home full of love, discipline, growth, and laughter. All guests recognized Yolanda’s home provided an enriching experience that would leave you feeling there was something special there. Yolanda loved and lived for her boys and was very intentional in the life experience she provided and the environment that surrounded them. All this was tactfully packaged in laughter. She loved to laugh, reminisce, and do it all gathered around a delicious meal. I hope most of you reading this have at least one memory of sharing one of Yolanda’s meals in her kitchen, holding your side from the pain of laughing so hard, tears of joy in most faces, and Yolanda’s big smile. That was Yolanda at her best and the way she should be remembered.
